Naps

I love naps.  Actually, I love the idea of naps.  I am not a very good napper, I take too long to unwind for a short nap and there is never enough uninterrupted time for a long nap.  Still, when the need arises I will make an attempt.  This afternoon I came home from a beautiful wander in the woods with one of my favourite people.  The energy expended, the time out in the sun and wind, and multiple days of not enough sleep all hit me rather abruptly.  I curled up on the bed in a puddle of sunshine, my dog tucked up in a little ball behind my knees with her head resting on my feet, and I closed my eyes.  I’d like to say that I drifted off at this point, but it wasn’t to be.  Each of my children came in at different times to share important bits of information with me.  Even though I didn’t sleep, lying with the sunshine warmth sinking into my skin and my dog comfortable against me was enough.
