Going on a Lion Hunt

Well, not really, but I am going on an adventure.

I decided to try something new.  I am going to be volunteering at a multi-day music festival, at which I will be doing my first solo camping adventure in our green van.  Two new things in one go.  I am pretty excited/anxious.  Is there a word that means both?  So many things to think about.  I have tackled the communication need for my adventure and now comes the preparation.

Back in my teen years someone thought it was a good idea to hire me to lead impressionable children in a day camp setting.  I will say it was one of my favourite jobs, ever.  One of the things I used to do was take my charges on city walks.  Some days we would imagine that the city was a dangerous jungle where crossing the road was forging a raging river filled with things with teeth and branches and logs that could knock you down.  Sidewalks were treacherous trails that we could become hopelessly lost upon. There were deserts and ferocious animals and obstacles to scale.  I kind of feel like I could do the same thing with my music festival adventure.  Doing the preparation it feels more like I am going on a safari as opposed to packing up for five days of field camping.  Thinking about communication devices, bringing all the food and water I will need, clothes for all weather and temperature possibilities, cooking equipment, back up batteries, … I must be heading to some isolated savanna, not somewhere two hours up the road (if I was taking the highway, but that is definitely not going to happen while I am driving the green van. A raging river analogy works for the highway).  Who’s to say what the denizens of this will be like… anticipating the unknown, looking forward to the stories.

Have a great time! What festival is it? Are you selling at the festival?

      Thanks.
No, I’m not doing any selling. I think I have decided I am not friendly enough to work the markets, but at some point in time I will forget I had those thoughts and probably try again.
