Odd conversations

I think that when you become a parent there are conversations you imagine having with your children.  There is the “talk”, where you intelligently and insightfully tell your children the mechanics of where babies come from.  Then the chats about the other varied and sundry things about life, living, and the pursuit of happiness.  Of course, there are the conversations you never imagined existing, let alone having with your kids.  The conversation I am over hearing my husband having with my son is one of them.  My husband is emphasizing to my eldest son that he is not to use the new electric drill for coffee.  This conversation will not make any sense to the uninitiated.  The background is that my eldest son has a hand grinder for grinding his coffee beans.  Using the creativity of the mind that has very little on it and lots of time to occupy it, my son decided hand grinding took too long so he removed the handle from his grinder and attaches the electric drill to the spindle to do the work of grinding for him.  He frequently leaves the batteries of the drill uncharged.  Unsurprisingly, this is irritating to my husband.  Tonight my husband got a new drill.  So, I guess we now have a coffee-making drill and a not for coffee-making drill.
