…and the tea cup cries empty

My son and husband do not appreciate my tea cup.  It is one of those mini thermos travel cups.  Mine has a switch that I can flip to open or close the drinking valve.  I occasionally forget to close it and that is inevitably when the cup gets knocked over, glugging it’s contents everywhere.  That alone has been enough to raise their ire.  In addition to its tippy and content spilling nature, my cup makes noises.  If it is full and closed, it is a content cup.  When half the contents have been consumed, and the valve is shut, it begins to complain.  Little ticking sounds and short squeals.  The more empty it is the louder the sounds and the more drawn out the squeals.  I know the cause of its repertoire of sound is a weakness in the valve and vacuum.  What I tell my family is that my tea cup is crying because it is empty, and is letting them know it would appreciate them refilling it.  That would make it happy, and it would make me happy (because everybody knows tea=happiness), and my husband and my son end up happy too because the cup has stopped making the irritating sounds.  A good thing all the way around.
